Summary of Duties:

Responsible for administering the Off Center Training program.

Description of Duties:

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Assists in identifying potential candidates for the OCT program: Notifies staff and OA of requirements for the OCT program. Assists students with the processes necessary to qualify and register for the program. Maintains established participation in the program.

  • Prepares students for participation in OCT: Introduces the OCT program during the Career Preparation Phase to include all phases of the requirements and activities that meet established criteria. Develops and implements OCT applications. Provides classes and workshops to introduce students and provide information about the OCT program. Provides students with an employability assessment evaluation.

  • Monitors and ensures OCT students’ progress and accountability: Monitors OCT students’ progress and performance participation. Ensures that students’ accountability information is submitted accurately and within established time frames. Ensures all areas of eTAR are being updated. Updates PCDP and CIS case notes monthly. Participates in ESP panels and ensures that students participate in Work-based Learning, leisure time employment, etc. as applicable.

  • Provides support to OCT students: Arranges transportation as required. Meets with OCT students a minimum of once every 30 days. Maintains contact with local agencies and referral sources and utilizes all staff resources to help students succeed. Facilitates OCT participation in the Student Satisfaction Survey. Acts as liaison between Center and enrollment agency on students’ behalf. Ensures students have access to meals, incentives and other program benefits as required. Ensures that students follow all program rules and are sanctioned accordingly.

  • Ensures that the OCT program meets DOL, Corporate and Center requirements: Develops and maintains Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) or contracts as mandated by the DOL, Corporate Office or Center. Ensures that the program has the required number of student participants at all times. Ensures that all students are engaged in meaningful learning and enrichment activities during their down time (i.e., non-class days/hours, semester breaks, etc.). Receives records and maintains regular progress and attendance reports from enrollment institutions. Has group meetings with OCT students at least monthly.

  • Provides staff supervision of all non-residential students: Meets at least monthly with assigned students and documents relevant information. Manages student incidents to protect all students from harm. Meets with students to address issues and express plans to resolve problems either individually or in a group setting and document such occurrences. Ensures that designated areas for non-residential students are attractive, clean, safe, and in good repair. Oversees the Non Residential Student Government Association (SGA) Committee. Holds non res meetings to include documenting meeting minutes and posting information as necessary.

  • Maintains students’ files. Students’ files must include electronic and hard copy, and must present an up-to-date history of the services provided to ensure the student is successful in the attainment of both long- and short-term goals.

  • Provides students with Independent Living program training as well as other Career Success Standards training. Develops and implements training to ensure students receive successful knowledge and the skills for the application of independent living and career success standards. Provides individual and group lessons or project assignments after the training day and on weekends to help students master competencies in all standards with clearly established performance levels for these activities.

  • Evaluation of Student Progress. Completes evaluations for students at least every 60 days and/or as special evaluations as requested. Ensures that students establish SMART goals and implement a plan so that they meet or exceed goals and expectations.

  • Ensures students’ accountability: Students’ accountability information is submitted accurately and within establish time frames. Monitors students’ accountability to include leaves, attendance and AWOL retrievals. Maintains contact with all students who are in AWOL status and makes every attempt to retrieve them from this status.

  • Supports other CDSS initiatives: Helps with social intakes. Facilitates CPP classes. Administers CPP to CDP panels. Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree with at least 15 semester hours of instruction in Social Services related instruction. One year’s experience in counseling related services.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

Valid state driver’s license;

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
