Management Analyst-Document Verification Analyst
The Management Analyst gathers and organizes information on problems or procedures. Responsible for the agency policy, associated procedures and system needed to collect, process, maintain, archive and disseminate NASA STI. The Management Analyst processes and ensures appropriate dissemination of the collected Scientific and Technical Information to the agency repository known as the NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS).
Primary/MajorDuties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Validate and process STI for release to NASA’s STI repository in accordance with required NASA forms and prevailing STI policy and guidance. “Processing” includes but is not limited to recording the source of collection/acquisition, approval and review tracking, change history and any dissemination approval or limitation determinations.
Ensure that each acquired citation or metadata record has a corresponding full text document when available.
Continuously evaluate existing products to make recommendations, based on industry best practices and trends, to optimize and further modernize workflows.
Create descriptive metadata for scientific and technical information (STI) documents that comprise the NASA Technical Report Server (NTRS), as well as creating and enhancing cataloging records for all documents.
Analyze technical documents and provide subject indexing and classification and plays a supportive role in the maintenance of related authority files and terminology resources.
Perform critical review and evaluation of document markings and associated availability authorization forms to determine the appropriate audience for document dissemination.
Recommends operational processing and systems improvements and enhancements.
Fulfills requests for multi-media STI to include dissemination control review and burning files to CD or DVD.
Assists with Information Desk inquiries, including researching information on NTRS and making required back file changes to existing metadata and images.
Required Education and Experience:
Pursuant to a Government contract, must be a US citizen.
Must be able to obtain/maintain eligibility for a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Minimum of Associates degree in library science, computer science, or STEM discipline related field
Experience in subject indexing and thesaurus development.
Knowledge of descriptive cataloging.
Requires three years’ experience in a business-related field demonstrating self-confidence, management of workload, communication with diverse individuals, application of good judgment, and working knowledge of business systems.
Experience in a NASA or scientific and technical information environment
Knowledge of Boolean search methodology and database analysis
