Job Description

The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of interior and exterior building structures, housing units and/or equipment requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work; and other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the replacement of electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and/or motors

  • Responsible for the patching of minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or compound • Responsible for the repair or replacement of sinks, water coolers, and toilets

  • Responsible for the painting of interior and exterior structures and equipment

  • Responsible for the repair or replacement of concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks

  • Responsible the replacement of damaged paneling and floor tiles

  • Responsible for the hanging of doors and installing door locks

  • Responsible for the replacement of broken window panes

  • Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery

  • Maintains tools and equipment in good safe working order

  • Incorporates both safety and customer service in the performance of all job duties

  • Actively participates in project site’s Injury and Illness Prevention Plan, including following correct procedures for lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials

  • Maintains confidentiality of resident and company information

  • Attends mandatory trainings and meetings

  • Performs duties and responsibilities, which are project specific per the attachment SITE SPECIFIC GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Other duties as assigned
