Job Description

Primary duty and responsibility is to prepare and enforce the corporate safety policies, procedures, and standards to support the U.S. Navy’s Safety Program on this contract. Has fulfilled the following pre-requisite training and experiences before being hired as the SSHO under this contract.

Completed 5 years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing the Contractor’s safety and Government's safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity in the past, and have completed 30-hour OSHA safety class or equivalent within the last five years and an average of at least 24 hours of safety training per year for the past five years.

Required Skills

  • Develop and implement a Safety Program detailing how the operational plans, personnel, subcontractors, and associated key stakeholders maintain, adhere to, and controls all safety practices while delivering best value services to the Government without any accidents or mishaps.

  • Submit a monthly exposure report to the Contracting Officer

  • Prepare and maintain an Accident Prevention Plan (APP), ensuring all Contractor employees, subcontractors, and vendors at each service site adhere to the APP

  • Prepare Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for all common recurring work activities performed under the contract

  • Responsible for regularly inspecting its work areas, job sites, and work crews to ensure that all Contractor operations are being conducted safely

  • Provides direction to subordinates using established policies and precedents

  • Monitors work operations of exempt and/or non-exempt employees on a daily basis and actively assists or provides direction to subordinates as required

  • May perform, especially in staff or professional groups, on-going operational tasks of organizational groups

  • Monitors daily operations of a unit, or provides direction to, subordinates as required

  • Interprets, recommends, and complies with health and safety regulations and/or company policies

Required Experience

  • Possess a Bachelors’ Degree in an associated technical discipline or equivalent experience

  • Four (5) years full time of practical experience in the safety field and working with requisite federal and contract regulations and documents
