Alutiiq Mechanical Engineer in San Diego, California
The Engineer shall provide leadership, oversight and perform on projects in a lab environment. This effort will support research, development, test, evaluation, and engineering to Navy, Marine Corps, and other DoD manned and unmanned air systems; avionics; surveillance systems; and air traffic control and communications systems and all related mechanical components. The chosen candidate will be required to work directly with the Government customer to assess materials, develop components, assess, interpret and approve drawing requirements for multiple engineering tasks over a broad range of technology scope. The engineer should be capable of using a variety of traditional metrology/measurement devices as well as being willing to learn the use of advanced tools such as laser scanning, photogrammetry and other laser measurement devices which are currently in use. The engineer should be willing to learn the use and operation of a variety of 3D printers and other additive manufacturing devices. Experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM) in programs such as Autodesk Revit is desired. The position will include the creation of 3D CAD models of existing structures and systems derived from laser scanned measurement data.
S. in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent certification program
3-5 years of experience in preparing 3D engineering drawings. Creating, editing, or proofing, US Government Engineering documentation and applicable standards to include 2D Drawings, 3D drawings, exploded diagrams, assembly diagrams, is highly desired.
Experience in 3D BIM modeling is highly desired
S. Citizenship status required
Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or be able to obtain or reestablish this level of clearance.

This position will require working closely with engineers and technicians of various disciplines supporting leading edge technology up to and including ongoing engineering support in a Virtual Reality (VR) environment. This work is currently on a long term and stable contract with the U.S. Navy.
